Prof. Robert Bloomfield – in Second Life: Beyers Sellers – from Cornell University, Johnson Graduate School of Management is our invited guest in the research project “Sense-making strategies and the user-driven innovations of virtual worlds” here at the Department for Communication, Business, and Information Technologies (CBIT), Roskilde University from Monday 22 to Wednesday 24 September, 2008.
In the shape of his avatar Beyers Sellers, Prof. Robert Bloomfield is the host of the “Metanomics” show broadcasted in Second Life by SLCN.TV (the in-world TV in Second Life) every Monday evening at 9 p.m. (21.00). The title “Metanomics” (Metaverse + economics) denotes the economics of the Metaverse, that is: the many different virtual worlds developed over the last decade. The “Metanomics” show has been broadcasted in Second Life since 17 September 2007 (http://metanomics.net/).
Monday 22 September, Prof. Robert Bloomfield will take part in a research seminar with our research group. In the evening at 9 p.m. (kl. 21.00), the “Metanomics” show is broadcasted from Saxo Bank, and, concurrently, the show is streamed on our blog.
Tuesday 23 September, in the morning four podcasts with interviews about “Metanomics” and Second Life industries are produced. They will be accessible on our blog. In the afternoon, a master class is given discussing the many questions in relation to research methodologies in virtual worlds.
Wednesday 24 September, in the morning the research team will discuss with Robert Bloomfield, if and how the “Metanomics” show may become one of the case studies of the current research project. In the afternoon, a project meeting is held with the partners of the project.
