Digital Media Technologies Revisited, Berlin

The conference is organized by our colleagues from the Digital Culture and Communication (DCC) section under the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).

The Briefs on Upcoming Papers

This post provides the information for two papers that are forthcoming.

The first is a paper to be presented at the ECREA subdivision conference, Digital Media Technologies Revisited, being held in Berlin, November 20-21. This paper will provide more in-depth analysis of my study on entertainment while engaging with virtual worlds. Abstract Digital Media Technologies Revisited

The second is a paper being written to discuss my study’s mixed methodology approach as an attempt to create an experimental framework in which to utilize Dervin’s Sense-Making Methodology to develop interviews that were used as the primary data collection methods. Mixed Methodology Approach

Dervin’s Sense-Making Methodology and Media Reception Studies

This presentation was given at the ECREA subdivision conference, Transforming Audiences 2, held in London September 2-4. The discussion focuses on the applicability of Dervin’s Sense-Making Methodology to the study of media reception.

Presentation to MetaverseU 2.0 at Stanford University

This presentation was given to the collected scholars and professionals who attended MetaverseU 2.0 at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, May 29-30, 2009. In this presentation, Sisse Siggaard Jensen, Ates Gursimsek and CarrieLynn D. Reinhard discussed their studies and the nature of the Virtual Worlds Research Project.

Posters on Virtual Worlds Entertainment Study

These posters were created for two conferences in September, 2009, to provide general information about the study on the reception of entertainment in engagings with virtual worlds.  Along with general information, preliminary quantitative analysis is provided on how interpretation of the engaging related to experience levels.

Project Meeting, October 29, Nordic Network

Associate Professor Robin Teigland will visit us at Roskilde University October 29th. She is the initiator of a new Nordic Network about virtual worlds that has been built around a research application entitled: Creating real world results through virtual worlds: Investigating entrepreneurship and innovation in virtual worlds.
